PETITION to support the styrofoam resolutions before the Hawaii State Legislature:
We, the undersigned, support the resolutions (SCR142/SR74 & HCR192/HR161, SCR 146/SR78 & HCR193/HR162) currently before the Hawaii State Legislature, addressing the threats posed by styrofoam upon our environment and health, and encouraging the use of alternative products to styrofoam which are readily available and affordable.
These resolutions represent a step in the right direction by promoting a more sustainable and more environmentally conscious Hawaii. We encourage you, our elected Representatives, to support and adopt these resolutions.

I think for the most part we can live without styrofoam just fine and will not even notice the difference. Let's get going and support the businesses "without"!

Styrofoam food containers are an environmental nightmare. I spend a lot of time biking around Ala Moana beach park, and I see all the time syrofoam containers being blown by the wind into the ocean. When I snorkel I also often encounters pieces of styrofoam in the sea. I believe they endanger sea life. Syrofoam in landfills lasts for hundreds of years and leaches chemicals into the ground. Why use styrofoam when they are so many biodegradable alternatives available. The use of styrofoam must be completely phased out.

Styrofoam is an unnecessary product that cannot be recycled or re-used. There are easy and affordable alternatives to such a wasteful product that many people do not consider. Help save our environment today for tomorrow!

I hope all states will enact this ban. You would think the USA could come up with something else BESIDES products that cause so much pollution and damage

I also feel that floating styrofoam in the ocean both repulses tourist and natives alike. For many reasons it should be banned

Styrofoam no longer has any benefit that can't be replaced by something more environmentally friendly and it has a host of negatives attached to it. We should actively and aggressively pursue eradicating Styrofoam completely.

Our Islands are too small to hold all this styrofoam trash. We could have our own industry in biodegradable containers!
Please help.
